INOs team published scientific paper on AI-Supported Waste Management in the Western Balkans in the USA Journal

The Center for Innovation and Development INOS proudly announces the publication of our latest scientific paper titled “Harnessing the AI potentials for coping with solid waste pollution in the Western Balkans” in the UAS Journal.

The paper presents the work of the INOS research team, Dimitar Nikoloski, Gjorgji Mancheski, and Marija Midovska Petkoska, and highlights the potential of artificial intelligence to improve environmental practices and support eco-activism across the region.

The study introduces a demo mobile application developed by our team that uses computer vision and AI to detect and map illegal dumpsites and solid-waste pollution. The pilot implementation was conducted in the Municipality of Prilep, North Macedonia, where the tool demonstrated promising results for faster identification, reporting, and decision-making in waste management.

The research contributes to the growing body of work on digital transformation, sustainable development, and the green transition in the Western Balkans, reaffirming INOS’s commitment to applying innovative solutions for societal and environmental challenges.
