Project: “Promoting AI-Supported Eco-Activism in the Western Balkans”
The aim of the project was to organize a workshop to promote AI-supported eco-activism among environmental non-governmental organizations in the Western Balkan countries.
This action improved the adoption of AI-based IT tools in the field of eco-activism. The current state of environmental protection in the Western Balkan countries does not sufficiently apply the latest and most efficient technologies. Therefore, the action raised awareness among eco-activists in the region about the benefits of using artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, the activity contributed to the creation of national dumpsite maps in the Western Balkan countries, generated through crowdsourcing and updated in real time. These maps provide useful information on the location, size, and composition of dumpsites for local and national authorities, helping them take further steps in identifying offenders and ensuring proper waste management.
The project was funded by the Central European Initiative (CEI) in cooperation with the Quantum Artificial Intelligence Foundation from Poland.
