ReBlock is an innovative circular economy initiative aimed at transforming plastic waste into functional and sustainable construction blocks. The project proposal ReBlock has been selected for support within the project “Civil Society and Youth for Inclusive and Sustainable Development through Circular Economy in North Macedonia”, implemented by Organization for Social Innovation ARNO, People in Need, LEAD, and Ekovita, financed by European Union.
The project addresses one of today’s most pressing environmental challenges with the plastic waste pollution by introducing a practical and scalable model that converts waste plastic into durable building materials. Through research, prototyping, testing, and business planning, ReBlock demonstrates how environmental responsibility can be combined with economic opportunity. The project goes beyond recycling. It introduces a closed-loop model where waste becomes a resource, creating environmental, social, and economic value. It promotes green entrepreneurship, supports local circular solutions, and encourages community engagement in sustainable practices. By combining research, innovation, education, and practical application, INOS aims to position ReBlock as a scalable model that can contribute to sustainable construction and responsible waste management in North Macedonia and beyond.
The objectives of the projects are:
- To reduce plastic waste through innovative reuse.
- To develop a functional recycled plastic construction block prototype.
- To promote circular economy principles among youth and local communities.
- To strengthen cooperation with informal waste collectors.
- To establish a foundation for sustainable business development in green innovation.
The project is financed by the European Union.
